Daughter Seeing Sikh Boy

This is regarding my 24 year daughter we r from Pakistan she is born here in Canada she has been a stubborn child and doesn’t talk much she was close to islam before but since she entered university she has become distant from everything stopped praying no fasting she was seeing a Muslim boy who we pressured to get nikah with but after one year of nikah she needed it now she is seeing a Sikh boy and she says she isn’t Muslim she doesn’t believe in any Islamic teachings she has depression anxiety and bipolar disorder now we the parents don’t know what to do we had told her in past that a boy has to be Muslim but she says I am not Muslim and I won’t look for a Muslim boy and I think she is ready to leave the house in case we say you have to leave because in past we told her if she have any other boy we will break our ties with her and she will have to leave the house now we need advice what to do please help jzk khair

This sounds like a very distressing situation. I pray you and your family find sukoon in knowing that Allah is the best of planners. Trust in His plan. Tawakkul is having complete faith in Allah’s plans even though they seem difficult to you. I cannot provide you with advice on how to find a solution for your daughter, I can however advise you and your spouse to seek a local therapist that is aware of the Pakistani culture and Islamic values and seek assistance in managing your stress and emotions. I would also like to suggest, if your daughter is not already, to help her seek out a therapist to help her manage depression anxiety and bipolar. We cannot control what others do, even our own children. This may be difficult to accept, but it is important to acknowledge we only have control over ourselves. We can pray for our children and hope that they return to the path of righteousness. Sometimes through life experiences do we return to Allah.
