Mosaics Research
Mosaics is a research opportunity to gather the collective experiences of young Arab and South Asian Muslims in the Washington, DC, and Baltimore metropolitan areas.
Increasingly, parents, imams, youth workers, counselors, and young Muslims have voiced an interest in trying to figure out whether Muslim youth are growing up healthy and happy, and what role their Muslim identities play in this process. This topic is not well-researched, and having information about large groups of Muslim youth would help us determine ways to better support them.
We have many programs and institutions that are either focusing on or are run by young Muslims. The goal of Mosaics is to help these organizations by allowing the young people to speak about their lives, and then to bring their perspectives together to give us a broader, richer understanding of the many ways Muslim youth make their way into adulthood.
